The Rehab 360 Knee Glider Will Revolutionize Recovery for My Clients

I learned over two years ago that I need both of my knees replaced.

I have been putting off scheduling even the first knee replacement because I am a busy woman with travel plans, family engagements, and golf games to play. I just could not bring myself to block off the weeks and weeks of recovery time I would need to recover and rehabilitate my first new knee.

One of my biggest fears was the number of physical therapy visits I would need (let alone the cost and if my insurance would cover all of the visits) and that fear was closely followed by the fact that I have been dealing with lower back problems and had inadvertently hurt myself trying to do back exercises on my own, without a physical therapist to supervise my movements. To make matters worse, my knee pain and weakness is now getting so pronounced that I need to use a cane at home and on days when I am really tired to ensure I don't fall and injure myself further.

I was worried. I was frustrated. I was a little scared.

Until last week.

Last week, my daughter sent me a link to MyRehab360. I visited the site and learned that there is a tool that I will be able to rent for my recovery and rehab and use at home to complement my PT visits. The Knee Glider (TM) will roll off the production line this summer and I feel this tool could be the tool to finally push me to schedule that surgery. At least the first knee anyway.

Let me explain why the Knee Glider gives me such hope.

Rehab360’s patented Knee Glider is exactly what I have been waiting for and did not know it. It's a mobile rehab technology that when paired with progressive rehab programs will give me the upper hand in my rehab and enable me to get back on my feet (and back on the golf course) sooner than later.

Imagine a device that you can rent and take home that will ensure that you do all of your knee rehabilitation exercises correctly, with stability, and with reduced risk of injury. I honestly cannot believe no one has developed this product before! It makes fantastic sense to be able to use a device that will control my range of motion and ensure that my knee is stable and controlled during each movement.

Here are the key benefits of the Knee Glider as I see them (and as I learned on myrehab360.com). I will be able to:

Improve my Range of Motion

Improve Strength

Improve Exercise Compliance

Let's face it, no one wants to do exercises that they are scared to do for fear of injuring themselves and for me, compliance with the exercises was a huge concern. I have more than one friend who has had a knee replaced and not been as diligent with the exercises as they should have been and let's just say the consequences for at least one of my friends was rather dire. The Knee Glider looks like it is the ideal solution to compliance. But only if it's simple to use.

I was concerned that I would have to download a complicated software and try to figure out yet another complex technology so I decided to dig a little deeper into the device. I learned that it is far more simple and easy to use than I ever would have imagined.

As you can see, the smooth gliding rails are what will stabilize my shiny, new knee and since the Knee Glider has progress markers, I will be able to set my own goals and track my own progress.

As a golfer, I work to improve and goal setting is a vital aspect of the game for me so to be able to set goals and achieve them will be key to my mental state as I recover.

Even pre-surgery, I can feel that my left knee is stronger than my right knee and I may be wrong, but I envision that being the case even after I have two shiny, new knees to break in--am guessing that I favor one leg over the other to compensate for pain and as a result, the muscles around my left knee are stronger and better developed than the muscles on my right knee. That's why the customized resistance aspect of the Knee Glider appealed to me as well. I will be able to reduce the resistance when I work on my right knee and set a goal to get my right knee up to the strength of my left knee. Now that's pretty cool! My daughter lives in Kansas City and since that is where I will have my surgery, she will introduce me to the inventor of the Knee Glider, Erik Hansen. Mr. Hansen has been a physical therapist since 2005 and because he has been a home health clinician for joint replacement for nearly 10 years, he is an expert on knee rehabilitation and knee therapy. Mr. Hansen (who I very much look forward to meeting in person because my daughter tells me he is a great guy with a real passion for innovation and care redesign) is also the brain behind the Total Knee Replacement Program--the complement (and blueprint, if you will) to the Knee Glider.

Rehab 360 Partnership

As my partner, Rehab 360 will provide progressive therapy programs utilizing the patented Knee Glider and act as a Third Party Partner for Joint Replacement programs and will work with me throughout my recover to achieve the following things:

  • Track my outcomes and progress
  • Provide a safety evaluation of my home (so I don't fall and wreck my shiny, new knee)
  • Provide me with a "Continuity of Care" model so I will have seamless transition from one level of care to the next
  • Even customize my personal program to the hospital or facility where the surgery will take place

As I admitted, I have not yet scheduled the surgery and I have missed the deadline for the calendar year of 2017 but I am really sick and tired of that cane and of the constant pain I experience so my New Year's resolution is to schedule that first knee replacement. And I am not scared to do it anymore. I just want to lose that cane.
